The ling is a slim, brown and/or greenish, long-bodied fish. It has small scales, a long anal fin and two dorsal fins, the one at the back much longer than the first and a barbel in the chin. The ling is a member og the cod fish family.
The ling can grow to a length of about 2 m. It is found in deep northern waters in the North Atlantic ocean. It is most usually found at a depth of 100-400 meters.
The ling is a predatory fish and will eat just about anything that crosses its path.
