Fish Description

The witch is elongated, thin and semi-transparent. The head is small, as is the mouth, and it has tiny teeth. The eyes are big and longer than the nose. The pelvic fins are small and the tail curves slightly outwards at the tip. The colour is reddish grey or brown on the right side and light or white on the opposite side, with dense black blotches. The witch is a seabed fish and has been found at depths of 30-1400 m. Its habitat is mainly sand or clay bottom. Its diet consists of bristleworms, small crabs and other crustaceans. The witch also feeds on sandeel and other small fish.
