Fish Description

Greenland halibut is quite similar to the regular species of halibut. The right side faces up and the left eye is at the edge of the head. The mouth is fairly big and it has sharp teeth. The colour is dark grey or brown on the right side but light grey or solid grey on the left. Its habitat is at a depth of 250-1600 m in very cold sea, often below freezing point. A seabed fish, it also strays up to lower depths. It seems to be the species of flatfish least dependent on the bottom. Its diet consists of all types of fish, such as capelin, shrimp, cuttlefish, etc.
